Fresh Figs # 4 ~ Phil Carney

PC 1

hey! i’ve been a bit slooooooow recently because i dislocated AND fractured my shoulder bone last Thursday… i made a noise a bit like this ~ BBBBBBBBBBLLLLLEEEEEEARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHNGNGNGFNGNGNGFFFFKKFKKFKKFKKF ~ and then had to go to hospital. it was quite literally WHACK. but the liquid morphine was nice šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜‰ šŸ˜‰

anywho as i type this using my wrong hand, i want to tell you about a superb young Jack-the-lad called Phil Carney. actually i have no idea how old Phil is, but i do know he’s a gentle man and also, an artist man. here’s Phil in his own words ~

‘I’ve been greatly influenced by the ideals of the Dada movement and, mainly for the themes and images, of the 40’s and 50’s film noirs and the pulp writing of that period, in particular its hedonistic life styles of fast drinking and faster romances. I strive to continue these themes in the medium of collage, in a medium this free I hope to show the lust of this period and in the fashion of noir, ultimately the loss.’

Yep, love this guy. Here’s Phil’s FACEBOOK

bye for now, peeple! šŸ™‚

Fresh Figs #2 ~ Zach Collins

ZC1 HEY! here’s the second installment of ‘Fresh Figs’, in which i post a-m-a-z-i-n-g art people have sent me (submission guidelines here)

this week i’m very proud to feature one of my favourite collage artists ~ Mr Zach Collins

‘Zach Collins was born in Grinnell, Iowa. He received his BA from Upper Iowa University, his MA from the University of Iowa, and his MFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He is currently living in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he is pursuing several art-related projects. His work, which is shown extensively both in the U.S. and internationally is about memories: tragic, humorous, and everything inbetween. Zach experiments with ironic and often unrecognizable imagery. His work is an investigation of the unexpected associations that are created by combining fragmented materials through collage.’

WordPress Blogs I Like a Lot (Part 1)

as i’ve been nominated for a few ‘awards’ over the past year or so, i thought i’d do a series of my favourite WP blogs as a (sort of) response (that avoids answering questions about myself hehe šŸ˜‰ ). here are the first 4, you all ~ ~ ~

‘purple woods’Ā ~

vintage / weird (in the best way) collages by Naomi Vona. Naomi uses old photos, stickers, markers, price tags.. her work is dark and sweet; the other artists she admires are also amazing

‘cardboard towns’ ~

free-form architectural sketches by Italian artist, writer and musician Marco Bigliazzi. everything Marco does is full of skill, colour and a strange kind of dystopian energy
