here are the ‘top 20’ collages from 2 years of hello, figg-ing ~
new images for your eyeballs / brains this week come from Indiana-based vintage-collage-machine, Scott Hatt!
instead of a bio, Scott sent me this amazing / mad / esoteric poem-commentary on his collages ~
Southern States: Bang, and the Religious Art in France of the Thirteenth Century
Norfolk warned me not to draw
while wearing air corps style glasses
Small targeted machine of dubious origin
the building of your America
Coffee and an orb: served,
Thai monuments in German photos.
Gertrude Jekyll’s Preface was of some help
Radio’s Proportions – divine
19th Century figures cavort and Chilly waves
Fifty Yen, Rouen, and Ramsgate.
Fifteen degrees west of Greenwich:
Crystals and Orphans.
HEY! here’s the second installment of ‘Fresh Figs’, in which i post a-m-a-z-i-n-g art people have sent me (submission guidelines here)
this week i’m very proud to feature one of my favourite collage artists ~ Mr Zach Collins
‘Zach Collins was born in Grinnell, Iowa. He received his BA from Upper Iowa University, his MA from the University of Iowa, and his MFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He is currently living in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he is pursuing several art-related projects. His work, which is shown extensively both in the U.S. and internationally is about memories: tragic, humorous, and everything inbetween. Zach experiments with ironic and often unrecognizable imagery. His work is an investigation of the unexpected associations that are created by combining fragmented materials through collage.’
so i had some GOOD NEWS last week ~ a guy in New York bought 3 of my original collages ~ the one above (‘noel coward was a kind of lightbulb’), plus ‘oblivious’ and ‘room with a view’ YAAAA!!!YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!YA
(this is the sound of me being happy btw)
sounds like the buyer’s had a pretty amazing life to be honest, he produced MTV’s Unplugged series, including the Nirvana one, plus the VMAs when Britney and Madonna um, osculated. he’s also good friends with Elvis Costello, for reals
ANYWAY, if anyone fancies a very late Christmas ‘dash’, all my originals are available for a ‘special’ seasonal price of £80 including P&P to anywhere on planet earth
