new images / art / figs this week come from Wilma Millette (aka frenchapple) (aka creartfuldodger)
i feel there’s a kind of sweet darkness to a lot of Wilma’s work, if that makes sense
it seems sophisticated and playful but also kind of like a kid who spends the afternoon playing hopscotch then runs inside to watch the shining
or ummm, maybe that’s just me?
aanyways, here’s what Wilma herself has to say ~ ~ ~
I am a collage, mixed media artist from Vancouver Island in Canada. I have been playing with this medium for about 7 years. I strive to create a narrative in my pieces, hoping to give some relevance to the materials I use. I love the ordinary, often discarded and well-worn objects and paper ephemera from the past. They have a certain beauty that is often lacking in the modern world of mass production. I like to think that the people who made them all those years ago would be pleased.
here’s the rest of Wilma’s portfolio 😀
happy wednesday the 23rd june two thousand fifteen you all X
after a little hiatus… hello again, you beautiful humans
i’d like to share some a-bloody-mazing things by Alex today
her bio is brief, her ideas are LARGE ~ ~ ~
Alex Robichaud is an artist living in Montreal. She mostly makes photographs, sometimes drawings, and other times poems. This is one of her poems. I hope you like it.
p.s ~ there is no poem. the bio was the poem. this girl is good
anyhow, the incredible photo above is ‘self-portrait with leaves’ and the one below is ‘limbs’
excited to feature an incredible artist on this week’s ‘edition’ of Fresh Figs ~ Nancy Bernardo! Nancy’s work is intricate, perfectly balanced and full of energy
the collage above is called ‘i heart exercise’ and the one below is ‘down, down’
ENJOY! ENJOY! ENJOY! 😀 😀 😀
HEY! here’s the second installment of ‘Fresh Figs’, in which i post a-m-a-z-i-n-g art people have sent me (submission guidelines here)
this week i’m very proud to feature one of my favourite collage artists ~ Mr Zach Collins
‘Zach Collins was born in Grinnell, Iowa. He received his BA from Upper Iowa University, his MA from the University of Iowa, and his MFA from Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He is currently living in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where he is pursuing several art-related projects. His work, which is shown extensively both in the U.S. and internationally is about memories: tragic, humorous, and everything inbetween. Zach experiments with ironic and often unrecognizable imagery. His work is an investigation of the unexpected associations that are created by combining fragmented materials through collage.’
E N J O Y!!!
(oh btw my book of ‘poems’ is available here!)
as i’ve been nominated for a few ‘awards’ over the past year or so, i thought i’d do a series of my favourite WP blogs as a (sort of) response (that avoids answering questions about myself hehe 😉 ). here are the first 4, you all ~ ~ ~
an immaculately curated collection of photos / montages / collages / ephemera with no clue (i could find) of the curator’s identity. categories include ‘geometric’, ‘girls’ and ‘skateboarding is awesome’
gentle, surreal and satirical watercolours & drawings by Spanish artist Rosa de los Vientos, ‘just for the fun of sharing in a world full of decline’..
free-form architectural sketches by Italian artist, writer and musician Marco Bigliazzi. everything Marco does is full of skill, colour and a strange kind of dystopian energy
i’ll post another 4 soon! HOPE YOU ENJOY(ED) 😀
