Joint Post with Zoe Litaker

 
a couple of weeks ago, seattle-based photographer / artist zoe litaker asked me to collaborate on a lil something
 
we each agreed to use the other’s ‘central themes’ to produce an image or two
 
zoe said ‘My themes tend to revolve around the mood disorder mixup of reality with fiction / memory / imagination… I draw a lot from the idea of magical realism and I love surrealist art’
 
zoe’s images are below, and mine – ‘boot envy (the blue divide)’ – is above
 

 

 
i particularly like zoe’s ‘becoming seattle’ series
 
these are b/w and normally blend two or three images
 
the figures are like ghosts or double-exposures
 
 
sometimes they appear on rooftops
 
sometimes they pull sassy poses
 
she makes excellent use of smudges and saturation
 
her images are always subtle, smart and a little bit dark
